“As a designer living and working in and around Belfast for the last 15 years I was delighted to be approached by Maria Fanning to create a new look for one of the cities longest running and most successful Italian Restaurants.
This was easy as I love all things Italian! I have travelled there many times and enjoyed experiences in lots of rustic trattorias and cafes. My Favourite places away had lots going on visually in the form of antiques, paintings posters and photographs. With this in mind, I employed the services of Irelands leading muralist, Naomi Mc Bride to create a beautiful Tuscan scene at the hub of establishment, the pizza oven, which worked beautifully to create warmth and character. All of the walls have been given a new texture and color and layered with fantastic images of vintage Italian cityscapes, people and produce.
Vintage Italian Movie posters were collaged with antique pasta, wine and beer artwork to create two massive feature walls. These were great fun to create, and with the new low level lighting succeed in making each seating area more intimate and cosy.  The project was delight thanks to the wonderful staff and I cannot leave out the abundance of the best cappuccinos in Belfast!
